BELIEVE FOREVER

Greetings Saints!

The 8th occurrence in the King James Version of the word believe is found in Exodus 19:9.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD.

Believe thee for ever, not just for the moment. To believe God is not a temporary thing. It is not an emotion. It is not for a period of time. God ordained you and I to believe for eternity, in other words for ever. This is the right way, it is God’s way.

Moses had just brought the report to the Lord of the peoples promise to believe Him. The Lord’s response was to reveal Himself so as to try to get the people to not just believe for the moment, but for ever.

You could say that God knew mankind. He knew the trials and circumstances they were to face. He thus wanted to sustain their belief in perilous times when they might be tempted to doubt.

It is no different today. It is not enough to just believe for a moment, a day, a week or some earthly period of time. We serve an eternal God who has no time restraints as we know them. He is training us to rule and reign eternally, not just for the present time. We are not to just believe when convenient, but for ever, all the time. In the good times and in the trying times. We are believers. Covenant children with the most high God.

Once we make the decision to believe Him, we stay with that decision even though the temptation may be there to waver.

Like the parable of the sower Luke 8.

Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. Luke 8:11-15

As Moses went up on the Mount, the believers became curious. Some felt it was taking too long, others had suggestions how to help God. One thing or another lead them away from their original commitment of believing.

We cannot allow these subtle avenues of unbelief to creep in and draw us away. We are to believe for ever. Not just when it seems prayers have been answered. Not just when there is no pain in our bodies. Not just when we have abundance and no financial pressure.

Remember the Lord who brought you out of bondage! He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He will never leave you nor forsake you. No one has ever been ashamed that really believed in Him. Only those who choose to stray from the truth and not believe for ever.

We must continue to believe the Word in the face of all adversity. Putting it into practice because we believe it more than we believe the assault of our five physical senses telling us it is not going to work.

God told Moses get back down quickly before the people break through and destroy themselves. They were supposed to believe for ever, but how quickly they chose another path. We must continue without wavering, lest we also be destroyed.

Each time we choose to step outside absolute faith in the Word of God we start down a destructive path. We must believe for ever. Continue, unmovable, unwavering, steadfast against all odds, believe the Word of God. He will not fail us.

So Jesus said to those Jews who had believed in Him, If you abide in My word [hold fast to My teachings and live in accordance with them], you are truly My disciples. John 8:31 AMP
