![]() Greetings Saints!
Num 20:12 And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not Because ye believed me not…herein lies the root of the problem. Specifically the failure to believe. Unbelief, in one form or another, is the reason the church does not enjoy more of the promises of God today. We say we believe. We obtain some blessings, i.e., the water flowed out of the rock, but we miss entering the rest He promises. Heb 3:18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? Moses was told to speak to the rock and it would give forth the water, but he spoke to the people and struck the rock. Perhaps he thought this was correct since We cannot live in the past or govern ourselves according to our experiences, good or bad. We are to receive fresh manna from the Lord’s word and walk in it. We cannot base our faith on what worked the last time. Where was Moses faith? Possibly he reasoned that since he struck the rock the last time and it produced, that he could do it again. In that case his faith was in the experience and not the fresh word of the Lord. Little did he know, at the moment, that he had provoked God himself the very same way the Israelites had done by their unbelief. It just manifested in a slightly different manner. Psalm 106:32-33 They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes: Because they provoked his spirit, so that he They were murmuring in unbelief. He also spoke unbelief. God said speak to the rock, that is faith. He chose to speak to the people and strike the rock, that is unbelief. From the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. He had a choice, God’s word to the rock or his words, based on his feelings, to the people. He spake unadvisedly. God advised him what to say, yet he spake what he felt. So where is our faith? In past experiences? In feelings? In circumstances? Or in the fresh manna of the Word of God? Check it by what we say and how we act. It is no small thing to distrust the Lord no matter how right it may seem to our senses. Unbelief is evil in the sight of God and we must cleanse ourselves of it. Moses must have thought all was well. They had the miracle of the water, they were satisfied. It appeared as though he had done right until the voice of the Lord And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, … therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them. Unbelief is such a deceptive snare! A costly one as well. Moses was not kept from heaven however, but from the earthly promised land flowing with milk and honey. So it is with us. When we do not fully believe There is nothing so sweet as His rest. Confidence unshakable in Him. A peace that passes our understanding. To know that you know that you know. Determine to obtain it today. Shake off all symptoms of unbelief and seek the Lord while He may be found. Plant the Word deep in your heart and allow it to roll off your lips calling those things that be not as though they were. It is the Kingdom way. Not by feelings or reasonable arguments will we prevail, but by faith in the Word of God. See you in church!
